One of the most impactful statements I read this week is that all humans are entrepreneurs. I was a little stunned when I read that because when I think of an entrepreneur, I tend to think of successful, self-made business icons. I learned that although the term can be applied more broadly than I originally thought, the entrepreneurial mindset is a choice. It certainly isn't the easiest one either. For example, I am a young college student deciding what I want to do with my life. I want to utilize my talents and find the best career path for myself. I want to grow and be challenged. Even when I graduate school and start achieving success, I am still a work in progress. When will I be finished? Well, if I have the right entrepreneurial spirit, I never will be. In The Startup of You by Reid Hoffman, he pointed out three key aspects to thriving as an entrepreneur. These included assets, aspirations and values, and market realities. These are the three things that can set you apart as an entrepreneur in order for you to succeed.
Something I am looking forward to is networking. One of the most important aspects of being successful is how extensive your networking web is. I want to meet mentors and other entrepreneurs that have similar aspirations. Like Jedd Sandefer said, it is important to surround yourself with other ambitious "travelers" because you will be influenced by them. Another thing I look forward to in the future is being a more experienced entrepreneur and being able to mentor people who are in their own journey. I want to learn how to be successful, confident and wise when it comes to being an entrepreneurial hero. I want to do this not only to widen my network and opportunities, but I want to be the network and opportunity to others who are taking the courageous steps into a challenging and rewarding life.
